About Pearlz2Purpose

As part of our vision for Pearlz2Purpose, we believe in bringing our stories to life through film.  A picture may be worth a thousand words, but a story told by those with lived experiences can leave an imprint far beyond the written word.

Mini-documentary
"Someone Else's Shoes"

Our first mini-documentary highlights trailblazers in medicine and dentistry in North Carolina who broke down barriers and paved the way for future generations, helping to increase everyone’s access to care. Today’s doctors of color stand on the shoulders of giants like Bishop Henry Beard Delany who saved one of the largest hospitals for Blacks on the East Coast in the early 1900s. Through in-depth interviews with experts, archival footage, and images, the film tells the story of these pioneers and the challenges they faced in their pursuit of equal access to quality healthcare.

Short documentary
"As The Sun Rises"

As The Sun Rises invites you to witness the heart and hustle of healthcare in North Carolina's rural landscapes. This documentary captures the spirit of communities and the dedicated medical professionals who serve them.  Journey with us as we meet two physicians, one in eastern North Carolina and another in the foothills of western North Carolina, both deeply rooted in their communities. Hear their personal stories — from childhood experiences that ignited a passion for medicine to the daily realities of providing care where resources are often stretched thin. The film beautifully illustrates the challenges rural communities face,
including transportation barriers, medication costs, and the critical need for reliable broadband access.
