Biography
Julia Matthews earned her Ph.D. from Wayne State University with a concentration in
Organizational Communication. Currently, she does a combination of teaching and consulting. Her teaching experience includes undergraduate (NC State) courses in public speaking, small group communication, interpersonal communication, and organizational communication. She teaches graduate courses (USC) in managing communication, communicating strategy and change, and strategic corporate communications.
As a management consultant and experienced business coach, Dr. Matthews supports
organizational executives with their leadership development initiatives through executive
coaching, assessments, and managing change. She focuses on helping leaders create and
execute strategy, navigate change, and inspire commitment while reaching optimum performance levels. Her coaching style is characterized by straight talk--operating with integrity and transparency by sharing information candidly.
Dr. Matthews-Manor has a passion for community and civic involvement. She is a current
member of the Raleigh (NC) Chapter of The Links Incorporated. She is past president of
chapters in Detroit, Michigan, and southern California. Established in 1946, The Links,
Incorporated is a premiere women’s friendship and volunteer service organization committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans. Julia is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, she pledged into the Alpha Gamma Chapter at UCLA as an undergraduate student.
Julia is happily married to Phillip Manor, and together they reside in Wake Forest, North
Carolina. She is an optimistic individual who enjoys live music, swimming, travel, and cuisine
exploration.
